      IL’GYNOTH, CORRUPTION REBORN

An ever-repeating cycle of 2 phases until all of Il’gynoth’s Organs have been killed and after which he is killed one final time. Reminiscent of his Legion counterpart, Il’gynoth brings forth the same attention to add control & space management that as crucial to when we fought him in the Emerald Nightmare.

Positioning around the room is crucial to managing Cursed Blood and to minimize the area affected by his Corruptor’s Gaze beam ability.

Cursed Blood: On Mythic, the Cursed Blood debuff spawns on raid members throughout both phases, can be dispelled and also grows and shrinks in 10 second increments. Whilst the Cursed Blood area is shrinking & growing, the area itself does not do any damage to anyone inside, but the damage of the debuff will pulse in a large around it when it reaches maximum size.

      Phase 1

During this phase, you fight Il’gynoth himself and have to deal with Corruptor’s Gaze spawning on random players (excluding Tanks). In the very first Phase 1, you will receive 1 round of Touch of the Corruptor which will Mind Control 2 players in the raid (can sometimes target 1 or 0 if the players he chooses spell-immune the cast beforehand).

Here is a floor plan of positioning for Phase 1. Classes have been positioned to take advantage of their strengths throughout each Phase 1. Elemental Shamans, Balance Druids & Destruction Warlocks are placed near Organ entrances as they are the strongest ranged classes that can switch to Blood of Ny’alotha adds that spawn without much ST DPS lost on the boss in doing so. NOTE: The white rectangle from the active tank is the Eye of N’Zoth radius and is off-limits.

Blood of Ny’alotha: These ooze adds will spawn periodically from a dead organ’s location and fixate on a random player (tanks excluded). Those positioned at the organ entrances (excluding SP whom will only DOT them) must target swap and burn them down immediately before they can reach melee range of the boss. Any CCs work on these adds and must be used.

As movement is pretty much impossible on this fight apart from a few yards or so when your Cursed Blood size allows it, healers are in charge of protecting and healing their respective quadrants. You will be out of range of some people, it is an inevitability but anyone you are in range of is your top priority.

Corruptor’s Gaze: Il’gynoth will target 2-3 random players in the raid (excluding Tanks). As shown below, you must allow the beam to chase you and run circles around it to make sure it overlaps ontop of itself without letting it hit you. 1-2 ticks are fine, but remember that the zone on the ground deals significant damage and it also silences you. NOTE: The image shows the zone as red, this is PTR visual – on live it is a purple void effect.

      Phase 2

When Il’gynoth dies, his Organs will open and become vulnerable to attack. Only 1 Organ can be killed before Il’gynoth re-emerges and begin Phase 1 again.

It is vital to keep your distance from others because Cursed Blood continues rolling, and also to make room for your fellow raiders so they can get in range of the targets they need to kill, or heal, respectively.

This a floor plan example of attacking the 1st Organ. The positioning can be easily replicated for each different Organ you are attacking, but it is not a strict plan rather an idea of what to employ – on a pull it will be impossible to dictate how each player will move, where and what room will be safe because of the Beams. It’s up to you to adapt.

As is expected, the players who are already assigned to be close to this organ do not need to move other than the player positioned directly infront of the alcove. Inside the Organ itself there is room for 1 player that can move in to make room for others.

Healers must get into position as shown so they can cover all the ranged DPSing the organ equally, with 1 healer focusing on the few melee and the tanks who will be taking minimal to no damage in this phase.

Clotted Corruption: As soon as Il’gynoth dies, he will spawn this large add. Same model as Vectis from Uldir, this add is the primary target for melee who will not be able to get into position for Organ damage. It must be tanked, and it will periodically charge at a random furthest player from it, dealing damage in a line and absorbing any Blood of Ny’alotha adds to give itself a 10% dmg buff, stacking.

This add will almost always be alive when heading back into P1, and it must be killed by everyone soon as the organ is down.

      End Goal

The main challenge of this fight is positioning and space management. The more room you have to work with, the easier it will be to handle Cursed Blood, and so it’ll be easier to get into position to kill Organs and adds that can overwhelm the raid towards the end if not dealt with.

The fight is long, and employing this tactic it will likely skirt very close to his 10 minute Enrage timer, but all in all it is a fight that tests your patience and spatial awareness rather than anything else.

Movement and add management is key. Conquer those, and the Corruption will be reborn no longer.
