The focus dissapears after the fight starts since she becomes untargetable (at least for me). So you can use a second macro to set the focus on her once she joins the fight.

Yeah, the issues with the focus target macro on a fight like is that people wasted time assigning focus (in whatever way they do, both efficient and inefficient) and that can get you killed which is why I like the one that relies on the boss being targeted automatically by the cast as it doesn’t need you to focus her or worry about picking her up on raid frames to set her as a focus. As long as she’s in the room she’ll get interrupted. As I said, nothing here to interrupt but her anyway so it also stops you putting the interrupt on CD by accident if she’s not there.
Also, every-time Thuraya ports off to hide in the corner (she does this at start as well so negates any focus you set at start) your focus gets removed.
Not saying it won’t work with focus, but it’s more work and requires human intervention to set during an already hectic fight.
