I may as well add some WA’s here for the fight.

Firstly, here is a WA that shows more clearly when someone with Sleep Cannister is close enough to sleep you.  It disappears when you are safe.

There is another which claims to mark the players with Pulse grenade, I presume only the raid leader needs this so I’ll not link it here.

Here is the WA that Firefunk mentions above.  Helps healers with dispelling assignments and order.  Please get it.

My personal feedback from yesterday’s tries :

        A) As mentioned close to the end, there were still people without the glowing WA, which is mandatory. As Scabb explained, it makes your frame glow if you have a debuff (sleep canisters) and if it’s safe to dispell it. But it’s not only for healers, everybody has to have it to make it work. Had everyone had the WA from the start, there are a few pulls who would have went better : actually, on at least a couple of pulls, directly while transitioning, there was always one more sleep canister to come and it was mindlessly dispelled, sleeping a lot of people in the process, and i guess i wasn’t the only healer slept this way. So we were late to heal during crossing and everybody died progressivly.

So please, check Scabb’s post above and get it 🙂

        B) Everybody should be using Prydaz in my opinion

        C) Green bridge crossing needs a bit more experience and maybe a few more adaptation and discipline from everyone. Here’s what went wrong in my opinion :

        1. People with empowered pulse grenades trying to cross too quickly (was better at the end)
        2. Bridge side sometimes not really clean enough to ensure a safe travel (for healers, at least, cause we can’t only  simply cross we need to look after the raid). And at the same time, a lot of people taking damage or needing dispells.
        3. Problem with canisters at the transition (was better at the end)

Here’s what i think we should “micro manage” to have better chance for everyone to travel safe the green bridge :

        • People with empowered pulse grenade have to stay left and right of the platform, and middle has to stay clean. It’s obvious but never hurts to remind. Also, i still think a “call” or a weak aura to monitor the boss stacks could be helpfull : we could set a number of stacks when it’s OK for the people with pulse grenades to travel, wait a few more seconds, then interrupt. There is a safe period after interrupt during which the boss does not bombard the bridge. I don’t know how long it lasts, but still, it’s good to know. When we interrupt the boss, no more fireballs, no more winds, bridge is easier to cross for people with pulse grenades.

        • I think too many people try to help with soaking things at the start which results in a lot more damage income on the raid at the start of the crossing (people stacked up trying to soak the same thing). I think that what we tried on the very early tries (before people left), with a couple guys assigned to clearing start of the bridge is maybe not a bad idea. Yesterday, to cover the incoming damage, Humpback was using his tranquility, and i was using revival like 5/7 seconds after, i think it was keeping most of us safe. But i also think we should keep at least one of this CDs for red crossing when we are half of the bridge.

        • Even if using two raid healing CDs for crossing, we still had people dying so we healers need to improve here. We still need to organize the healing team a bit better to ensure we always have one healer who can heal while moving stay “behind/middle” to keep people with pulse grenades alive.

        D) Red bridge crossing :

Ok, we all gather at the start, use immunity, speed potion and clear, use healing CDs to keep ourselves alive for the blastwires triggered. Healing CDs to be used : SLT + HTT + AG + asc + aura + Hymn. Is this enough? I don’t know. The raid wasn’t topped of when we needed to cross. That’s why i think we also need one more after the tank/dh has cleared the bridge.

How i see things is as follows :

        1. Immune + bridge clearing, healing CDs
        2. Everyone use lock gateway at the appropriate time, just before the fireball comes on the other end of it (or right after ir has crossed it) … then
        3. Instantly after use of APT for clearer insta rez + revival or tranq
        4. Proceed.

We could also automatize the use of other abilities like shout, personal CDs, use of health stone, etc. I still don’t know when should be the right time. I imagine it’d be best to keep the health stones for second red crossing just to “secure” a possible kill, but maybe we could start to try to use it while we are still learning the fight and its different phases. Also, we need to decide when to use our def CD(s), if it’s for green bridge to soak/travel safe or red bridge to lower the damage income due to the clearing.

        E) Things i’m still unsure about :

It’s mostly relative to warlock gateway(s) use : It has 2 minutes CD (debuff) so in theory, it’s possible everyone could use one for green, then one for red, etc etc.

But it also depends on the dps and i did not measure how long it took us to take down 20% of the boss health in P2/P3/P4.

Also, how many gateways will we have everytime?

And finally, how do we really make use of the gateway for green bridge?

        • when are we supposed to take the gateway since we need to clear a path?
        • To clear the path, can we imagine a rotation of people where X goes first with def CD, then Y, then Z, etc? Would it be efficient /easy enough to settle?
        • Would there be any point when we can really say it’s safe for most of us to take the gateway at the appropriate time

For the red one, i’m sure there is an optimal time to use it, like what we were doing on our latest tries (before people left, once again). So in case we only have one gateway or can’t use gateways for both bridge crossings, I think the gateway would be more usefull for red crossing.

In my opinion, you can’t really make use of the gateway during green bridge since you need to clear the path progressivly. Because of the stun traps we can’t really send one guy to take the gateway and clean most of the bridge. But if we rotate people, i don’t know.

Lastly, how does tank/dh cross the bridge : Is it better/usefull to have the lock gateway ready or is skystep potion long enough to clear the path?

That’s it for me for today 🙂

Very good post Firefunk, thank you.

          Much to agree with here.

I guess trying to enforce Prydaz is worth a shot as it might simply trivialise some parts of the encounter is we get lucky with timing.  Please ensure you all have a Prydaz gearing build ready for next Saturday.  If I have to wear it (and I have defensive stance, heroic leap and DbtS for the bridge crossings) then everyone has to 🙂

On the CDs for the red bridge, just wanted to point out you also have Com Shout on every one, yesterday we had two as Fearstrike was also there, though admittedly they were overlapped rather than one being delayed.  We should definitely sort that out.

More comments please, don’t let Fire speak to himself on this as I am convinced that we sort the bridge and pulse grenades and we will kill this quickly.

OK that’s good for shout we should have it for both red bridge crossings. If we have two warriors, i’d say use first for first part of clearing, and second one for the next.

I actually think Method’s kill video perfectly shows how things should be done, let alone a few things we’d do differently on platforms. We are seeing the bridge crossings quite nicely (not the green bridge clearing though, but we have empowered pulse grenade pov, which shows how to react and deal with it correctly). They are doing the red crossing with lock gateway and in two phases :

-immunity, cross half the bridge till gateway

            -everybody takes the gateway

            -continue

About healing CDs from what i saw :

-First green : revival + AG, and weirdly one HPal used aura mastery very early in the fight, i don’t understand why

-First red (around 2mn50) : Darkness / Barrier / HTT / Aura  for first half of the bridge, take portals, then when Sco breaks the last blastwires Tranq. It’s weird they are not using SLT there. They are not using APT either because they assume the cleaner won’t die.

-Revival and VE are used on third phase to help with incoming damage, at around 4mn / 4mn10.

-Second green (around 4mn35) : aura from second Hpal is used at start of crossing, APT is used at the end of the bridge. I’m unsure if they use AG there also, it was ready but can’t see it on the pov at that time of vid.

            -Second red  (around 6mn50) : probably darkness / barrier / HTT / aura -> take portal -> revival / tranq / SLT.

That’s a complicated chain of CDs but i’ll study it to see how we could best arrange our own CDs with 5 healers, assuming we have approximatly same timers but i really doubt it.

Watched Method’s video, and really liked the way they controlled the available space and minimized movement in phases 2-3.

Bridges were based on good communication over voice coms and proactive soaking of shit. Also being more grouped allowed good use of mass dispels for green crossing.

In ideal world we should aim for something similar for easier repeat kills.

After studying i’d advise the following :

For green we really should use a task force to clean most, composed of tanks and whatever is best to immune things. A healer or two without empowered pulse grenades should follow to dispell and spot heal. Healers task to check who has pulse grenade and adapt.

-green bridge : AG + Revival (self CDs if low life and / or soaking team)

                – red bridge : first part right after BoP + speed pot -> Darkness + HTT + SLT + Aura + Hymn (+Shout if we have two) -> take gateway -> when crossing last blastwires/mines Shout + Tranq + Asc + APT.

Probably healthstones for second red, just to secure. I’d say after taking the gateway.

Tranq and revival can be switched depending on which one is best when, i’m unsure. Maybe the decision would come to who’s got pulse grenade between Hump and i, the one without it should use his CD.

If we want to clear the whole bridge without short stop we’ll probably have to chain all CDs to keep everyone alive for crossing, or delay the major healing CD after taking gateway. Can’t say yet without more tries.

The tricky part of green is the start when the way is blocked by stun mines. If we allow the people to soak most relatively at the same time then mass dispell can be used. After more people soak and that’s why Revival can be handy as healing CD for green bridge as it also dispells whoever needs it.

But yeah, it definitly needs proactive play.

I had a look at the replay of our best try and thought it would be useful viewing for all.

You can clearly see how well the first phase and crossing went as far as positioning pulse grenades and who triggered what and when.

You can also see where things go wrong on the second crossing, with the second half of the bridge being where the damage overwhelms us (any spare healing CDs at this point would undoubtedly help) as would better timing in using the warlock portal as I believe that’s what caused the mass pile up at the end.

                    Here it is:

We will most likely return to a ranged/melee clearing squad of 5-6 people as we did on our initial progression on Imonar as it offers a much cleaner way to deal with the bridge and to allow more controlled movement from the rest of the day.

With regards to bridge crossing – across our 10 tries on Sunday – we need to improve most of all the following:

                      • Clearing: Much of the cleaning was done by tanks or classes with little survivability to deal with the damage from bombs. Assigning Mages/Rogues/DHs/Warriors and high mobility classes that can sprint ahead and clear a path for us without dying in the process will be a change on Saturday.
                      • Dispells: Statis Traps stuns need to be dispelled as soon as possible and more often than not people received full duration stuns. (This does not include out-of-range soakers who run ahead to clear)
                      • Orbs: Bridge crossing needs to be quick, but it needs to be safe and controlled. On many of our tries, people took multiple hits of the flaming orbs that roll down the middle and sides of the bridge. You MUST avoid these Orbs at all costs – the damage is significant and the slow will make it very hard to cross the bridge.
                      • Speed: Whilst there was a marked improvement on our later tries, it is important people without Empowered Pulse Grenade cross immediately as the boss transitions and as fast as they can. People lagging behind make it harder for those with the Grenade to cross without playing ping pong with your corpse. This, however, does not mean that crossing the bridge in the fastest time is our goal.
                      • Warlock Gateways: Using the Gateway gives a 2min CD till the next use is available. Barring any reduction in damage on the boss, this will remove your ability to use it on the 1st Red Crossing if you use it on the 1st Green Crossing. It is important to prioritize using the Gateway at the appropriate time and in most cases on the Red Crossings as these will be the slower ones for us given the suicide solo-soaking. Do not pop the Gateway and fly into an incoming orb.

As for boss positioning, we will be utilizing the Method positioning strategy for 3rd and 4th phases with slight variations that I will show on some maps once I put them together. 2nd Phase we will continue as we did last week with 1 tank on each side of the boss and the raid running to and fro between Imonar.

Though it has been said, I will reiterate aswell. This fight is purely about mechanics and survival. It is not a DPS race and anything you can build to beef yourself up and make you less likely to die to Bridge, Beams, Bombs and whatever the boss throws at you – the better.

Keep an eye on this space. Prepare for Saturday – solve the bridge crossing and the positioning and this is a kill. It’s within our grasp and expecting it’s not will get us nowhere. We can do this.

If i may add few comments  :

-we should position the lock gateway from start of second platform to middle, so everyone can take it to start the bridge rather than finish it. There was a right moment to take it on our old tries, just before fireball went through it.

-we should have spare healing CDs for second half of red bridge with what i imagined. Either tranq or revival aswell as ascendance from Kraax and possibly shout if we don’t need it for start of clearing, just after we use lock portal.

-For bridge clearing it’s ok to assign ranged but they need to do it only if they do not have pulse grenades, off course. But it’s important soakers do not soak the same thing at the same time, as it adds to dispell needs or healing needs.

-For dispells, i imagine the soaking squad could “clean” the first and closest stasis traps, then poko should use mass dispell so that every healer has  ST dispell ready, after we keep progressing and either i won’t have pulse grenade then more dispells would be done thanks to revival on bridge, if i’ve got nade then we will have to check, but if we assign people for soaking i’m sure there won’t be too many dispells to be done, it should be smoother.

On the replay we also see we only have 4 pulse grenades before green bridge, which is a good indicator.

I’m confidant we can have good progress, and probably a kill if everybody pays attention and look at what he’s doing.

                          Green Bridge Crossing

                          • Empowered Pulse Grenade (Triangle): As soon as transition begins, cling to the walls at the sides as shown in the image below. Make sure not to clip anyone with your pulsing AoE. Cross as soon as you see the majority of the raid is across the initial part of the bridge.
                          • Main Raid Group (Tank Icon): Begin crossing immediately after the soakers have cleared a path, following your group closely and hanging behind the Tanks and the soakers. You are not racing ahead, avoid the rolling flame orbs and do not stun yourself in the path of one.
                          • Bridge Soakers (DPS Icon): Cross immediately as the boss transitions, clearing a path for the team on the appropriate side of the Bridge (GOOD). Prioritize Stun Traps and utilise Magic Immunities or strong Defensives to clear the Bombs. Do NOT soak if you have Empowered Pulse Grenade on you.
                          • Interruping Boss (Skull): Interrupt the boss at 11 stacks or when the Empowered Pulse Grenade targets have reached the half point of the bridge.

                          Phase 2

                          • Charged Blasts (Circle): Take your beams to the sides of the room at the wall. The icons on the map below are a merely an indication as the ship positions and beam patterns will change – make sure your beam is not going to clip anyone.
                          • Empowered Pulse Grenade (Triangle): Position yourself on the opposite side of the room around the marker shown below. It is important you cling to the wall so you do not spawn Bombs in the middle of the room. Move in to the raid when the debuff expires.
                          • Raid Group (Tank Icons): Alternate between the two Tank icons shown below according to where the boss is facing. Run through Imonar as soon as the shrapnel bombs spawn underneath you (orange swirlies).

                          Red Bridge Crossing

                          • Demon Hunter Soaker (Diamond): Group up with the raid and await the call to cross with Blessing of Protection. Use a Skystep Potion and clear all of the Trip Wires and Shrapnel Bombs on the side of the bridge marked as GOOD. Make use of the Warlock Gateway to speed up clearing. Your goal is to suicide clearing as much of the bridge as possible – eat everything you can.
                          • Raid Group (Tank Icon): Remain stacked tight at the start of the bridge as you are buffeted by Healing CDs while the Soaker clears the bridge for us. Once the Soaker crosses the yellow checkmark on the path, begin crossing immediately on the cleared side, while avoiding ALL Flame Orbs coming your way.
                          • Interrupting Boss (Skull): Interrupt at 14 stacks or when the entirety of the raid has crossed the bridge. No Pulse Grenades to slow people down here, so move together to the boss.

                          Phase 3

                          • Sleep Canisters (Triangle): Take your sleep canisters to 3 positions marked on the map below with the Triangle. Call for a dispell with your name on Discord. It is not paramount that you take these positions with Sleep Canister, but do your best to move away from others if you are getting a Canister.
                          • Melee Positioning (Circle): Repeat positioning behind the boss in Phase 1. Move to the sides of the boss if and when a Shrapnel Bomb spawns underneath you. Move out with Sleeping Canisters – do not stay with them.
                          • Ranged Positioning (DPS Icon): Repeat positioning spread out around the walls of the room of Phase 1. Keep your distance with Empowered Pulse Grenade and move to the Triangles or away from others with Sleep Canister. Sidestep Shrapnel Bombs and cling to the walls so they do not spawn in the middle.
                          • Shrapnel Bombs (Blue Fire Icon): Ranged sidestep the Bombs without detonating them, conserving as much space as possible and keeping away from Canisters and Pulse Grenades. Melee move to the opposite side of the boss if a bomb spawns underneath them and continue this movement for the whole phase. The Off-Tank will soak the Shrapnel bombs spawning on the melee when they have moved away.
