Tohmane, Trispec Rogue, P/S/F – Accepted

What sort of membership are you applying for?

  • Progress/Flex/Social
  • What characters are you applying with? Please link from armory, wowprogress or some other site, in order of importance to you. Include also your main character if you are applying with an alt.

  • Tohmane, my Rogue and main.

  • Main Character Link

  • Why did you choose the class/spec you’re applying with and what kinds of content have you played on it so far? What experience you have playing other specs of your class?

  • Started as Rogue back in the day, currently giving the old/new Outlaw a whirl for leveling, WQs and dungeons. I played Combat almost exclusively for the most part from Cata through WoD, changing to mainly Sub with the occasional Combat for Mythic HFC. In Legion I didn't like what they did to Sub and opted for Assassination after leveling as Outlaw (RIP Combat). I honestly haven't taken Ass or Sub out for a drive in BfA yet but I will.
  • Tell us about your history in WoW. Previous realms, guilds, best achievements, favourite mounts and anything else you want to add.

  • Hope you like reading, because even the short version will take some text. Back in Cata some friends were into WoW, and as I was getting a bit burnt out on living FFXI (yes living, I didn't simply play that game, but that's a different sidestory) and they coaxed me into trying WoW by getting me a month's game time and that time's battle chest which was Vanilla + TBC I believe. After leveling 5 characters to 70 during that month, I decided to keep going and main my first character, Rogue. This was on Sunstrider, and eventually after level cap and Heroic Dungeons PUGs and whatnot I joined a 10-man raiding guild right around the time Dragon Souls launched, called Ancients of Insanity. We got up to Spine on Heroic, and collectively pretty much got burnt out. Taking a break, missing most of MoP, coming back to a dead guild a month or something before Siege of Orgrimmar, I tried some PUGing but missed the coordination and teamwork so pretty much just leveled alts. Switched to PVE realm Emerald Dream for WoD launch and played for about 2 months. took a break, came back around Hellfire Citadel, PUGed Ahead of the Curve on at two characters and wanted more, there were only two Horde guilds with proper Mythic clears of previous tiers and only one needed Rogues so I ended up in Actus Dei where we painstakingly eventually got Cutting Edge after 600 something pulls on Archimonde. After that EN Mythic got off to a rocky start after Legion launch and the guild imploded due to wildly differing approaches to Mythic progress conflicting. Pretty much took a break again, got an offer to join a casual HC raiding guild The Circle on Silvermoon Alliance between Nighthold and Tomb of Sargeras. Having only leveled a traito... an Alliance character previously in WoD for the Double Agent achievement I figured why not. WE did AotC KJ and a few M kills, then AotC Argus and a few M kills. And then the Zandalari trolls got announced. Welp back to Horde in BfA it is, hopped back to Emerald Dream because the RL friends were there. Lo and behold, a single proper Mythic Horde guild left, because the imploded one realm transferred. They didn't need a Rogue really. I knew Draenor was as Horde favored as Silvermoon was Alliance from ingame friends and internet research, so coming here seemed like the most logical choice, since I feel like I'm not experiencing the actual game unless I'm clearing at the very minimum HC. So here we are. CE Archi was definitely my best achievement. Behind that I'd probably say the Flames of Xoroth questline for Warlock in MoP, leveled a lock alt solely for that. Favorite mount would be Astral Cloud Serpent that I finally got my hands on just a few lockouts ago. It's big though... so for all around mount convenience Invincible, and of course shout out to Azure Water Strider, expansion launch MVP since March 2012.
  • Who are you outside WoW? Please make sure to include things like the name your friends call you, your age, where do you live, what do you do when not playing WoW, family situation and anything else you’d like to add here that would affect your ability to play with Weekend Warriors in the coming months.

  • Nerd since an early age, got suckered into reading mythology, fantasy, sci-fi and playing video games before broadband really skyrocketed my gaming infatuation. Name's Alexander, most people call me Ohman or Tohmane, I'm 32 and live in northern Sweden, when I'm not playing WoW I'm working, sleeping, eating, occasionally socializing with family and friends, playing other games, watching Twitch and youtube, listening to various sub genres of black and death metal mostly with other, in some people's minds fully conflicting and irreconcilable, different genres sprinkled in. The reason Weekend Warriors caught my eye was first of all, the fact raids are only on weekends. I work the evening shift every third week and that makes the "normal" start times of around 20:00 realm time very difficult to reliably make, and with working day shift the two other weeks, the prospect of late nights raid times aren't very attractive. Which leaves weekends. The second and third reasons intertwined, the kickass website, and your previous accomplishments. Barring the standard unforeseen acts of God and random ragnaroks, I always have my weekends free for maximum attendance, I wholeheartedly believe that Mythic progress requires commitment, and it wouldn't feel right to take up a roster spot with less than at worst 90% attendance personally.
  • How did you hear about Weekend Warriors? What are you expecting from us? What can you offer to us?

  • I checked the dreaded official WoW realm forums. I expect you to be what you advertise. I can offer an old(ish) rational man with a level head that can take criticism and has no desire to generate or fuel unnecessary drama. TL;DR I'm too old for that shit. Eitherway, memes are life and so on.
  • What kind of computer, internet connection and ingame latency/framerate you have? (please provide links if possible).

  • i7-4790k CPU, 16 GB RAM, GTX 970 graphics card, SSD HDDs, mechanical keyboard, 10-button mouse, 100/100 Mbit broadband, latency to Emerald DReam was 45-52 ms, thinking of looking into other ISPs due to that to be honest, generally 70-100 FPS fluctuating.
  • The following questions are provided by our members and used by us as a maturity/sense of humour check. Please read them carefully and try to give your answer some thought as your answers will give us the best guide to your 'fit' with our community.

If you were an orc, what would you be and why?

  • Well, are we talking ingame, or IRL, or if IRL would be reflected ingame? In order of listings: Orc Rogue, straightbacked. Relentlessly persecuted, robbed of my freedom, thoroughly examined and experimented on. A short hunchback peon who gets his silvers as a kodo caravan driver.
  • Whats the perfect time of day and why?

  • 23-04, because the world is quiet and noone expects you do do anything even remotely resembling useful or constructive. Relaxing stillness.
  • Please name one thing you LIKE most about WoW and one thing you particularly DISLIKE and why.

  • I LIKE that there's always something to do! I DISLIKE that there's always something to do! *glances woefully at neglected Steam library, former education and future possible skills requiring practice*

Hi Alexander and thanks for the application. What happens now is we put a link to this app in the member's section so members can discuss it and bring any questions they have to you. Normally expect an answer on a raid team application within 72 hours. Please check back from time to time in case there are any questions that need answering as this will help speed the process. Thanks. Scabb p.s. Love the typo comment!

Hello again. As you stated you last raided as Alliance, can you please give us the characters name whilst on alliance as we can't find any logs for the horde character. I also note you're applying for Progress, flex and Social, do I take it this means that if we have no room in progress it's flex, if no flex it's social, i.e. happy to join on any membership type? Flex won't be an issue, progress would depend on logs and experience and if no logs, then how you do in flex and then a raid trial, if we can fit in another rogue. Please confirm. Thanks.

Sorry, slipped my mind that my starting name was taken on Draenor. I raided as Aoleus from Cata until just now.

Yes, I'm fine with any role. If I don't make the roster, I'll just have to apply myself and try to improve for the next sweep of recruitment if I'm so inclined. I miss the social part as well as the progress raiding part. That is my ED char after coming back from Silvermoon Alliance yes, and since Mythic progress wasn't our goal I didn't focus on minmaxing, just tried to keep ahead of the curve *badum-tsch*

Thanks for that. Obviously this simplifies things as roster wise we're very tight at present and you don't have a lot of recent experience but judging by your comments and past achievements should be able to make the step up, biggest question would be if you can stick with the game and raiding longer term as we're looking for people that will stick with raiding throughout the entire expansion. Will get back to you asap.

In my defense for seemingly not playing throughout any full expansion, all of those breaks were either preceded by not having a raiding guild and RL friends not currently playing, or not wanting to raid and RL friends also not playing. Looking at it written out, I definitely understand how it might come across though.

Thats OK, we're used to people taking breaks, the world is full of lightweights these days ;) I can say this with a straight face as I have been running this guild for 10 years, raiding and playing constantly for all that time without a single break in subscription or raiding, ever. Basically this is why WW still exists and most guilds of its era don't, because I'm a stubborn bastard and I surround myself with enough stubborn bastards that make this situation possible. That being said I am under no illusions that the world is like me (or them) and that there aren't viable reasons why people don't stick with things in a similar manner as they, at the very least, haven't had WW to help them do it. So, no worries, 90% of the apps we get these days are from people with a pick up and put down relationship with WoW in one way or another and whilst we old timers may find that a bit weird and well, "without honour" it is all in all very understandable. You write a very good app and so the rest wasn't really going to be an issue in the end as we don't like people we'd like in guild to remain without their obvious home. Now for the cut and paste bit: Hello Alexander and thanks for your patience. I'm happy to say we've decided to offer you trial membership of Weekend Warriors and its progress raiding team. Please poke someone when next online and ready for an invite to the guild. Welcome aboard! Scabb
