MAUT
Yet another boss with a repeating 2 Phase encounter. The length of each phase depends on how well you execute the mechanics to avoid the boss gaining too much mana, or not draining it fast enough to end his deadly 2nd phase.
We will be employing the 2 Tank strat for this fight so as to maximize output on the boss, but this will come with a heavy hitting dot on the Maut Tank through Phase 1.
Phase 1
The boss will be tanked directly where he is standing at pull. As on Heroic, melee will stack on one side of him while Ranged stack on the opposite side from melee away from him, to avoid being hit by the Black Wings knockback.
You will need to drop Devour Magic away from your group, but not incredibly far as you will need them to dispel the Mythic only debuff, Ancient Curse.
Ancient Curse: Curse debuff applied to several players periodically throughout Phase 1. It is a flat 15% slow that lasts 24 seconds. If the debuff expires, you will die instantly so it must be dispelled either with a Decurse or by running into a void zone dropped by Devour Magic. Removing the debuff causes a raid-wide explosion, so they must be staggered in groups.
Ranged must switch to any Dark Manifestation adds immediately, melee remain on boss due to Black Wings. Just before a new add spawns, and once it has been drained of enough mana, it will be fed to the boss rather than waste more damage in trying to kill it off.
We will ideally only have 2 adds per Phase 1 before he reaches 100 Mana and triggers Phase 2 to begin.
Phase 2
This phase begins anytime the boss reaches 100 Mana. He will run to the middle of the room and begin channeling a 1 minute cast. If this cast completes, the raid will wipe.
In this phase, the boss takes no damage in health but in mana instead. You have 1 minute to drain the boss’ mana completely.
Remain stacked tightly at times and watch your health pool as he will reflect 100% of all damage directly back to you as Arcane Damage (you can pop Magical Immunities such as Cloak to pump), coupled with the raid-wide explosions coming from tanks soaking the Mana Orbs that will try to intercept and regenerate the boss’ mana pool.
If any orbs reach the boss, it’s a wipe. Orbs will deal more damage the closer they are soaked to the boss, but this damage is minimal compared to the reflect and is always preferable to soak regardless of raid hp.Drain Essence will not be run and must dispelled by healers ASAP. Healers will constantly regain mana in this phase, so they are free to spam as much as possible to keep the raid healthy as this phase will hurt A LOT, and running out with this debuff is unnecessary as the raid will split between 2 packs while DPSing the boss to minimize targets hit by Drain Essence.
